Featured Business in Western Loudoun: Stoneybrook Farm

When traveling through Western Loudoun near Hillsboro, you may have noticed a store at the intersection of Routes 9/690, that you “marked” as a place that you needed to visit the next time that you drove through the area.

Founded in 2007, the Stoneybrook Farm and Market has grown from a small roadside table to a natural grocer and deli store that serves sandwiches, coffee and a variety of other natural and locally-sourced items.

The Stoneybrook Farm Deli

Featured selections from their menu include: “The Deli Rose”, a Roast/Corned beef sandwich with pepper jack/cheddar cheese on an onion roll with special sauce, and a “Garden Burger” that includes organic vegetables from their farm on a kaiser roll.

In addition to those menu items, you can also “design your own” sandwich from fresh meats and cheeses that have reviewers on Yelp raving and coming back multiple times!

Organic Produce and Locally Sourced Meats

Beyond the deli menu, the store has a full selection of organic produce, meats, cheeses and dairy items. The dairy items include organic milk from the Trickling Springs Creamery and their produce comes from the one hundred acre Stoneybrook Farm, located just down the road in Purcellville, VA.

Soaps, Oils and Candles

After you have picked up your lunch or dinner, you can check out their wide selection of soaps, oils and natural products. During a recent visit, we found handmade soaps from The Parsonage Soap Company, and aromatic candles from a local business that left us ready to visit the vineyards and breweries of Western Loudoun.

So, the next time that you are traveling through Western Loudoun, (or if you are lucky enough to already live here), make sure to visit the Stoneybrook Farm store. You won’t regret visiting and taking home a locally sourced meal that will make you feel great!

…Six Spices and a New Pan to Cook with! (See the History for the Rest of the Song!)

In downtown Purcellville, there is a business that has everything you need for that special cook in your life. Spices, gift sets, and cookware, plus lots of awesome gift baskets to put it all together!

About Butterfly Gourmet

Brought up in a culture where food was love and Sunday dinners went on ALL day, Debra grew up on the south shore of Long Island.  She studied Communications Arts in NYC and worked as an on-air reporter.  Eventually, she put her communications skills to work for animals (one of her great passions) securing a job at the largest animal rescue and no-kill shelter in the world, North Shore Animal League America.   The owner (like the monarch butterfly used in her logo) migrated to a warmer climate.  She moved her daughters and a menagerie of dogs, cats and equine from NY to VA opening a shop reflecting her other great passion – food and entertaining – and Butterfly Gourmet was born where entertaining, cooking and all things interesting and yummy are the theme!

About doTerra Purcellville

In the spring of 2008, a group of health-care and business professionals who shared profound personal experiences with the life-enhancing benefits of essential oils came together with a common vision of bringing a new standard of therapeutic-grade essential oils to the world. They wanted something different that would appeal to all people—from those who knew nothing of essential oils to those who were considered experts in the field.

They concluded that, with hard work, commitment, and the help of others with similar passion and vision, they could and would create a new paradigm for essential oils. With that conviction, they organized a company and named it “dōTERRA®,” a Latin derivative meaning “Gift of the Earth.” The first offering of dōTERRA essential oils—25 single oils and 10 oil blends—was introduced for sale on April 25, 2008, to the acclaim of essential oil experts and product enthusiasts who immediately recognized the superior quality of dōTERRA therapeutic-grade essential oils.

On the Fourth Day of Western Loudoun Christmas, my true love gave to me…

Appalachian Outdoor Readiness Water Microfilter
Appalachian Outdoor Readiness Water Microfilter

…Four Outdoor Survival Kits! (See the History for the Rest of the Song!)

Are you the type that likes to hike the nearby Appalachian Trail, or  “rough it in the wilderness” that is Sky Meadows or Skyline Drive, then you need to visit Appalachian Outdoor Readiness and Survival. Find all the things you need to purify water, cook food and camp safely!

About Appalachian Outdoor Readiness

On November 2013 Chuck and Cindy Izzo, both Army veterans, decided to take their passion for the outdoors and emergency readiness to the marketplace and Appalachian Outdoor Readiness & Essentials was born! It’s an outdoor equipment, apparel and wellness store with a unique added focus. While some stores focus only on selling outdoor products, Appalachian Outdoor Readiness & Essentials adds the emergency readiness and disaster preparedness factor to the mix. Solutions for water purification, food storage, first aid, backup power, self-reliance and independence in the face of emergencies are provided as they go hand in hand with camping, hiking and outdoor life. Campers and hikers are some of the most independent and self-reliant folks in the world so why not bring those qualities to the general public and better yet, teach them how to leverage the equipment for dual purpose? Cindy likes to think of their store as the “yin & yang of outdoor survival and disaster preparedness” because Chuck’s side deals with being prepared in the physical sense while Cindy’s side takes care of preparedness in terms of health and wellness.

Eastern Standard Time Grandfather Clock
Eastern Standard Time Grandfather Clock

…three Grandfather Clocks! (See the History for the Rest of the Song!)

For the first time ever, more than 50% of college freshman didn’t have a watch when they started school this fall. Sure, you can keep time on a phone, but nothing beats the classic beauty of one of these Grandfather clocks! Visit the nice folks at Eastern Standard Time today for a nice holiday gift!

About Eastern Standard Time

Frank’s interests in clocks began at the age of 10. He got his start by helping a neighborhood clock maker and was taught the basics of clock restoration. Later in life, Frank received his formal training in Horology by attending Gem City College of Watch/Clock Making of Quincy, Illinois. He now specializes in mechanical and antique clock/watch restoration. He has been working in the field for over 25 years.

Frank’s daughter, Karla Palasciano went on to college and then to study horology before joining her father at  Eastern Standard Time in 2002. Karla is a valued colleague and talented clockmaker.

Eastern Standard Clock Company relocated to Purcellville in 1995. Since then the business has flourished under the guidance of these two master horologists. The clock shop has grown to become an integral and familiar part of western Loudoun County, Virginia and is well known for providing unhurried and uncompromising craftsmanship, expertise, and service.
